Keep Your Brand Protected for the Future
01 · THE BASICS
Trademark renewal is the process of extending the validity of an existing registered trademark for another 10 years.
Timely renewal helps a business continue protecting its registered brand identity.
02 · VALIDITY PERIOD
10 Years
A registered trademark is valid for 10 years and can be renewed for further 10-year periods.
03 · RENEWAL TIMELINE
Renew early to avoid additional fees and unnecessary complications.
04 · APPLICATION
TM-R
Trademark renewal in India is filed using Form TM-R with the Trade Marks Registry.
Check trademark details carefully before filing.
05 · OFFICIAL FEE
Government fees may change. Verify the current official fee schedule before filing.
06 · LATE RENEWAL
If the normal renewal period is missed, renewal may still be possible within 6 months after expiry by paying the prescribed fee and surcharge.
Expiry does not mean rights are instantly lost, but prompt action matters.
07 · RESTORATION
If the mark has been removed for non-payment of renewal fees, restoration and renewal may be sought within the legally permitted period, subject to the Registrar’s satisfaction and applicable provisions.
Do not delay once the regular renewal window has been missed.
08 · CHECK BEFORE FILING
A substantially redesigned logo may require a fresh trademark application.
